The relationship or lack thereof between brothers and former Oasis members Liam and Noel Gallagher has hit a new low, with Liam now suing Noel over the latter’s claim that Oasis had to cancel a festival show because Liam was hungover. According to the BBC, Noel told journalists that that was the real reason why the group pulled out of the V Festival in 2009, and not that Liam had laryngitis as explained at the time.
Liam said in a statement that he had “tried to resolve this amicably but have been left with no choice but legal action,” adding, “All I want is an apology.”
Liam also said that Noel’s claim “went way beyond rock-and-roll banter and questioned my professionalism.”
Speaking recently to the press, Noel said that the cancellation of the V Festival show, along with Liam allegedly
demanding free advertising space in Oasis’ tour program for his clothing line, were deciding factors in the demise of the band.
But Liam countered, “I was gutted when I couldn’t play the (V Festival) gig because I didn’t want to let the fans down. The truth is I had laryngitis, which Noel was made fully aware of that morning, diagnosed by a doctor.” He added there was “no such discussion or row” over his clothing line.
Ex-Oasis guitarist Andy Bell, who now plays with Liam in Beady Eye, has also spoken out publicly to back up Liam’s version of events.
However, NME reported that pictures have surfaced in U.K. tabloid The Sun showing Liam at the festival site, drinking into the early hours of the morning.
